Ready to sell your home?

Preparation and presentation are keys to boosting your home's value and selling it quickly! In today’s age, most Buyers are shopping for homes online which means the pictures of your home really need to attract their attention and stand out amongst the others. Here are four tips that will make a big impact when it comes to having your home ready to list!

Deep Clean

From the floors, the ceilings, and everything in between be sure to take the time to clean up every room in your house. A clean home will show your potential buyers that you’ve taken good care of the property.

Also be sure to think about the exterior of your home! The exterior and entryway of your home impacts your buyers first impression of the home, so make sure it’s a good one! Take the time to mow your lawn and prune any other plants around the property. Clean windows, doors, and replace any old door mats. If you can, pressure wash the exterior, any sidewalks or stairs leading up to the home, and the driveway. This will impact your curb appeal greatly with little effort and expense.

Declutter

Consider this process an efficient way to start packing! Remove any books from bookcases, clean everything off kitchen and bathroom counters, remove any knickknacks that may be lying around, as well as clothes and accessories. Essential items can be tucked away out of view. This may also be a good time to go through your things and see if there is anything you’d be willing to part with. You can discard of those things in a useful way by donating them to a charity or nonprofit organization such as the Salvation Army or Goodwill.

De-personalize

We know that you take the time to make your home your home, but now that you are preparing to sell, keep in mind that not everyone who sees your home is going to have the same taste as you. Take time to remove personal photos from walls, refrigerators, dressers, and mantels. The reason for this is because if you’ve covered every wall and surface of your home with beloved family members, friends, and pets, there’s a good chance that your potential Buyer will get distracted and have a hard time imagining the home as theirs.

Define

When you are selling a home, it helps to show the potential Buyers how they can use each room. You can do this by staging the rooms in your home. You do not need to hire anyone for this, you can simply stage rooms using the furniture and décor you already have. Move things around and rearrange to really make each room shine! If your guest bedroom is also your storage space, try your best to turn it back into a guest bedroom as you want Buyers to see the potential in each room! This is also a good time to fix any repairs or paint walls as you go through the house.

What’s Next?

Now that you have finished these steps, try taking an objective look from a Buyer’s point of view. Remove yourself and your memories from the equation and imagine that you are seeing your home for the first time. Consider asking friends or family for their honest feedback so you can be sure you’ve done everything possible to make your home look its best before you put it on the market. You’ll impress buyers who, in turn, will impress you with good offers!

If your home is ready, then the next step is to contact a realtor and get your home on the market!

Hopefully these four simple steps helped and we can’t wait to hear from you!
